I finally recreated a whole new PDF file, and appended the documents from scratch. That seemed to work, but is not efficient.

I have to download these PDF files from a State website every month. Then I have to append them together, “set destination” for each document, and email them to our staff.

What I’ve done in the past was to just replace the old expired documents with the new downloaded ones.

Never had a problem until now. I’m definetly not pushing the system too far, as these are small files, and there’s nothing unusual about them. I’m not looking forward to next month, when I have to re-invent the wheel all over again.

SO if you have any other recommendations, I would greatly apprecaite it!!! Thanks again for the reply. If the document is broken then it needs to be repaired before you can work with it. This should happen on a SaveAs, or when the document is opened.

If it’s too far gone then that’s it, you have to start over. Here are some things to consider. Always do a SaveAs when working with a file like this. SaveAs cleans things up. Working with a document like this is pushing Acrobat to the edge.

Really the doc should be created new each time. You could create an Automation Script for downloading, appending the docs, and adding bookmarks. This would save you boatloads of time. If you are not a programmer then it might be worth hiring one for this task.
