Nero Platinum – Palkittu moniosaaja.Movie Studio: Creative Video Editing. Easier than Ever.
Biggest features that I would use that Xbox supports but Playstation does not. The hardware is more than capable! Myself and nearly all of my friends have p monitors; some bought new for next-gen gaming. Choosing not to support p is a backhand to competitive gamers. Very disappointed TBH, time to switch to Xbox? I love your products. Sadly, not supporting p is the ONLY deterrent for me as I do not see the investment viable if outputing only p on my monitor.
Will be grateful for the feature. My p monitor is significantly better than my TV. Sony, I would also appreciate p support. It is a great middle ground for graphical fidelity while maintaining good framerates! An interview with Sony executives confirms it is technically possible and will be considered if the demand is there.
A lot of PC gamers have p monitors, and given Xbox publishing strategy they are more likely to buy PlayStation for exclusive titles, so supporting this resolution would strengthen that possibility. Secondly, even 4K TVs often support p at higher refresh rate, so this resolution gives a better chance for more widespread fps gaming, especially since rendering at p would be cheaper than 4K, allowing for better fidelity with this high framerate.
Yes please add P option, its the perfect middle ground between P performance and 4K rich graphics. Same boat as all these people.
Idk how the ball was dropped on this one, unless you plan on coming out with an cheap monitor for us, please fix this soon.
Sony, what are you doing?? Why would it be so bad to add p when you can add a resolution in an update like you stated?? There are TONS of professional gamers that use monitors. Please, give me p. I bought a whole new monitor for this coming launch with hz. You said play has no limits! Yes, it does. There are millions of people who play on monitors. Fix it! I need p support. Sony, please add p support, like your competition! Adding my voice to p! I use the same monitor for PC and PS5 and p is the perfect compromise of fidelity and performance.
Would prefer to keep using this same one and not have to buy a 4k monitor. No web browser? Sony should really listen to consumers. Why not a web browser? That sounds so weird to me. Except now in next-gen gaming, the hardware is less exceptional. Smh sony. Thank you. A lot of people are hoping for P support, I hope Sony can accommodate us monitor users.
It is strange that a company will skip resolutions but still offer way low p. Please update to support p cause that is the sweet spot for alot of people who use gaming monitors.
The demand is here. High refresh rate p support with variable refresh rate adaptive sync is all I want for xmas. Yes, p support would be awesome. Anyone who has invested any kind of money into improving their audio setup is still left wondering whether or not they have an expensive lemon going into next gen. Never got to use both together. Have a look at the specs of the device and there will be a section telling you how much bitrate you will get over its various connections optical, coaxial, USB.
If it is then it is UAC2. A splitter is a cheap option, but be wary. Hopefully it works for you. If all else fails you might end up having to get both an amp and a DAC.
However, I would wait until we get confirmation before you pull the trigger on anything. Still no ocnfirmation of DAC support. I have a schiit Bifrost dac that I pair with a vali 2 amp and I want to use that via usb with the PS5 for my audio. Yea it is just absurd at this point. I cancelle dmy Pulse 3d this mornign as apparnetly dualsense has a realtek chip and audio quality thorough it is siginificantly improved and can power 50OHM cans.
It posted without me confirming… The dualsense can pwoer 50 Ohm headphones apparently, my Mackie-MCs are 32 Ohm so there is that, but still no replacement for big boy DACs. Yea I heard about that. Their equipment is pricey in the UK though, especially when compared to Schiit. There is of course the chance that HMRC will claim the duty, but it will still come in cheaper. I did of course jump the gun by getting it early, but with all this COVID nonsense I figured that it would be best to get it now.
Funnily enough I just got my notification from FedEx while I was typing. It shipped today and will be here Wednesday. No too shabby. Awesome, one question, will PS5 be able to support P displays in the bear future?
I feel like a lot of people will benefit from this. It is strange that they will skip a resolution that alot of people game on with gaming monitors. Is PS5 Dual Voltage? PlaystationIn is a bunch of incompetent people who know nothing. Once they win the case against the person saying that they own the ps5 name in India it will release.
Yes it is dual voltage. If you look it up you will find an article by psu. So why skip p resolution. Alot of us game on p gaming monitors and that is such a sweet spot. Will a future update allow native p resolution? Is there a list of PS5-Compatiable headsets? Will there be p support sometime in the near future?
A lot of Players have a p Monitor and it would be a shame missing out on it. Hey PlayStation! I really love you guys for making such awesome games available to play on PlayStation. I currently have a PlayStation 4 and also had PS3 and psp. I really wanted to gift ps5 and Miles Morales to my younger brother on his birthday this month but sadly we in India have no release date yet and have not been able to pre-order a ps5. If you read this please help us gamers in India out , we have been waiting since 16th September for being able to Pre-order a ps5 and play it this holiday season.
Hope you guys help us soon! Sad to see they skipped out on Dolby Vision support. Dolby Atmos and Vision are actually pretty bad for gaming. The audio and video has a lot of extra processing that needs to be done and it adds significant lag. Pretty disappointed to see these are not supported for video playback though. Having invested in a TV that support dolby vision and a surround sound system that supports atmos.
Quite disappointed the ps5 will support neither for bluerays…. And while the Xbox Series X supports the format in games on paper, no games currently take advantage of it. Tempest 3D on the other hand is available to anyone with a pair of headphones or tv speakers after a later update. The PS5 is more than capable of processing both DV sound objects with zero lag. They just decided to develop their own format for the above mentioned reasons.
Ok what if I have two PS5 consoles? On my primary could other people play my games like on PS4? If i play a PS4 game installed in external usb drive, do i still get increased framerates and resolutions? Or do i have to transfer the game to internal SSD to have these improvements?
When I capture gameplay footage using the Create Button, can I direct the recording straight to an external hard drive?
When can I expect to get a time estimate for my delivery? Please support p Sony. Me and my wife will own a Ps5 each, will we be able to purchase the game in my account and play on both Ps5 like it was on Ps4? Has there been any improvement to how software is shared in multi-PS5 households? The PS4 implementation was okay, but had flaws. Same case overhere. I got a PS4 for my kids and another one for me.
I can then share games between those two consoles. How will it work for the PS5? This is my question, too. Any chance we find out before launch day? Will we be able to download games from friends on PS5? And will it be updated about backward compatibility? I was hoped to play my psone games again on PS5. When will the console and games be available in India? What will be the price? I second this question… what about asia…? Completely neglected the entire continent. If not, will there be an update in the future to unlock these abilities?
Media as a whole is a bummer. No DTSX. No Dolby Vision. Lack of 3D Blu ray compatibility. This was a let down. Sony is really dropping ball on technology support.
What a letdown, Sony being cheap and not paying for a Dolby licence. With this decision Sony just handed the home media enthusiast segment to Microsoft. Absolutely spot on. I have seen it mentioned on the PS. Blog before that VRR is supposed to be part of the specs. Yes, I would like to know this as well. Also what types versions of vrr will be available?
Will you support p in a future update? There is a lot of PC gamers that use this resolution on their monitor and would like to do so on the ps5 as well. What about Dolby Vision? As I watched a lot of review videos of PS5, there are a few things I noticed about the game library, that I find irritating. This applies to the PS5 game library, as well as to the library in the new PS app and library. The library shows all your digital purchases and all installed disc games.
But, it also shows all your disc games that you have played in the past and are not installed anymore. What happens when you sell your physical games? Will these show up on the PS5 Digital Edition probably? On PS4 you can hide items from your library right now this is even more useful on PS4 as it is also cluttered with DLC content from disc games in between your digital purchases. When you hide stuff from there it does not apply to the PS app or library. I hope they will offer a way to hide games from your library that applies across PS5, the PS app and library.
Game organization is disappointing. And why are they doing that again? Better yet, call them tags, and let us create our own and slap as many tags on a game as we want, and filter by tags — you could even make it a social option with approved tags that are suggested or popular for a game.
Anybody want to take bets on how long that will be the case? I bet by April there will be a firmware upgrade for the PS4 to allow it to work with DualSense, just in simple rumble mode. A: No, 3D stereoscopic output is not supported on PS5. This was was supported on PS4. Why is 3D not available? This is dumb to stop supporting it. A lot of us have a library of 3D movies that we watch on our PSVR and our 3D projectors that are still being manufactured.
It makes zero sense. Yes, I would like to know this as well! There was no mention of PS Vita in this whole article. I still love my Vita and would love to know if Sony will update the Vita to be compatible with PS5 in any way!
Cheers to the new generation! And if I may make a suggestion, since the PS4 will have the ability to stream the PS5 game play, could we get the PS4 to stream content from the Vita too? I used to care deeply about this too, but now that the official Remote Play client is available on all mobile devices — plus great open-source options like Chiaki! Please update the Trophy menu to let us sort the list of games alphabetically again.
It makes it much easier to find an older game to check trophy status, as well as view all games in a particular series together. Will there be an option to change the single press of the PS button to bring us to the home screen instead of the Control Center? Will account primary activation be on ps5? I am sharing my ps5 with my brother and if he buys playstation plus on his account will it work for me?
Do I need to activate anything? What if I buy psplus on my account will it work for him? I would assume it will work the same as it does on the PS4 — no reason it should be different.
Hopefully we can have a primary PS4 and a primary PS5 at the same time. That will be interesting to see. Looking forward to confirmation that we can have a primary PS4 and a primary PS5 at the same time. My son is keeping my Pro which I have to set as primary, so he can play my games using his account , but I want to be able to play digital games offline on my PS5….
When You say audio will work over the usb port, does that mean a usb connected to a headphone amp will work on PS5. Please add Native p support!! This would be a fantastic sweet spot for performance and visual gameplay! It would really simplify my planned setup if it does.

As a result, its most distinctive pictures contained a strong element of fantasy—not so much the fantasy of horror, which during the thirties was the province of Universal , but the fantasy of the marvelous and adventurous.
As a group, the studio’s craft divisions were among the strongest in the industry. The movie was coproduced with Pioneer Pictures, founded by Cooper—who departed RKO after two years helming production—and John Hay “Jock” Whitney , who brought in his cousin Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney ; Cooper had successfully encouraged the Whitneys to purchase a major share of the Technicolor business as well. From the studio’s earliest days through late , Max Steiner , regarded by many historians as the most influential composer of the early years of sound cinema, made music for over RKO films.
In October the ownership team expanded, with financier Floyd Odlum leading a syndicate that bought 50 percent of RCA’s stake in the company; the Rockefeller brothers , also major stockholders, increasingly became involved in the business. Grant was a trendsetter, one of the first leading men of the sound era to work extensively as a freelancer, under nonexclusive studio deals, while his star was still on the rise. Soon after the appointment of a new production chief, Samuel Briskin, in late , RKO entered into an important distribution deal with animator Walt Disney Van Beuren consequently folded its cartoon operations.
In its initial release, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , Disney’s first feature, was the highest-grossing movie in the period between The Birth of a Nation and Gone with the Wind Gone with the Wind , his coproduction with MGM , was largely shot there. While the Disney association was beneficial, RKO’s own product was widely seen as declining in quality and Briskin was gone by the end of the year. Pandro Berman—who had filled in on three previous occasions—accepted the position of production chief on a noninterim basis.
He left the job before the decade’s turn, but his brief tenure resulted in some of the most notable films in studio history, including Gunga Din , with Grant and McLaglen; Love Affair , starring Dunne and Charles Boyer ; and The Hunchback of Notre Dame all The Saint in New York successfully launched a B detective series featuring the character Simon Templar that ran through RKO filled the void by releasing independently produced features such as the Dr.
Pan Berman had received his first screen credit in as a nineteen-year-old assistant director on FBO’s Midnight Molly. Schaefer , handpicked the previous year by the Rockefellers and backed by Sarnoff. Breen—nominally filled the role. Schaefer agreed to terms so favorable to Goldwyn that it was next to impossible for the studio to make money off his films. Smith was a modest success and Suspicion a more substantial one, with an Oscar-winning turn by Joan Fontaine. That May, having granted twenty-five-year-old star and director Orson Welles virtually complete creative control over the film, RKO released Citizen Kane.
Rogers, after winning an Oscar in for her performance in the previous year’s Kitty Foyle , held out for a freelance contract like Grant’s; after , she appeared in just one more RKO production, thirteen years later.
By the end of June , Floyd Odlum had taken over a controlling interest in the company via his Atlas Corporation , edging aside the Rockefellers and Sarnoff. Charles Koerner , former head of the RKO theater chain and allied with Odlum, had assumed the title of production chief some time prior to Schaefer’s departure. Announcing a new corporate motto, “Showmanship in Place of Genius: A New Deal at RKO”, a snipe at Schaefer’s artistic ambitions in general and his sponsorship of Welles in particular, [92] Koerner brought the studio much-needed stability until his death in February With RKO on increasingly secure ground, Koerner sought to increase its output of handsomely budgeted, star-driven features.
The studio’s only remaining major stars under anything like extended contracts were Grant, whose services were shared with Columbia Pictures, and O’Hara, shared with Twentieth Century-Fox.
Thus RKO pictures of the mid- and late forties offered Bing Crosby , Henry Fonda , and others who were out of the studio’s price range for extended contracts. Mary’s , a coproduction with director Leo McCarey. Welles later called it his worst film, but it was the only one he ever made that turned a profit in its first run.
In contrast, a clear majority of the features put out by the other top four studios were budgeted at over half a million dollars. The Lewton unit’s moody, atmospheric work—represented by films such as Cat People , I Walked with a Zombie , and The Body Snatcher —is now highly regarded. He bowed out after four Falcon films and was replaced by his brother, Tom Conway. Conway had a nine-film run in the part before the series ended in Film noir , to which lower budgets lent themselves, became something of a house style at the studio, indeed, the RKO B Stranger on the Third Floor widely seen as initiating noir’s classic period.
RKO, and the movie industry as a whole, had its most profitable year ever in Supreme Court ruled in Bigelow v. RKO that the company was liable for damages under antitrust statutes for having denied an independent movie house access to first run films —a common practice among all of the Big Five.
Peter Rathvon and RKO Radio Pictures president Ned Depinet had exchanged positions, with Depinet moving to the corporate offices in New York and Rathvon relocating to Hollywood and doubling as production chief while a permanent replacement was sought for Koerner. On the first day of , producer and Oscar-winning screenwriter Dore Schary , who had been working at the studio on loan from Selznick, took over the role. RKO appeared in good shape to build on its recent successes, but the year brought a number of unpleasant harbingers for all of Hollywood.
The British government imposed a 75 percent tax on films produced abroad; along with similarly confiscatory taxes and quota laws enacted by other countries, this led to a sharp decline in foreign revenues. Across the board, profits fell—a 27 percent drop for the Hollywood studios from to As a consequence, they were fired by RKO per the terms of the Waldorf Statement , the major studios’ pledge to “eliminate any subversives”. In May , eccentric aviation tycoon and occasional movie producer Howard Hughes gained control of the company, beating out British film magnate J.
Arthur Rank as the buyer of Odlum’s interest. Hughes promptly fired employees, and RKO production, which had averaged 30 pictures per year, dwindled to 9 the first year Hughes took over. Production chief Schary quit almost immediately due to his new boss’s interference and Rathvon soon followed. Once shooting picked up again, Hughes quickly became notorious for meddling in minute production matters, particularly the presentation of actresses he favored.
Offscreen, Robert Mitchum’s arrest and conviction for marijuana possession—he served two months in jail—was widely assumed to mean career death for RKO’s most promising young star, but Hughes surprised the industry by announcing that his contract was not endangered.
Paramount Pictures, Inc. Under the consent decree he signed, Hughes agreed to dissolve the old parent company, Radio-Keith-Orpheum Corp. While Hughes delayed the divorcement procedure until December and didn’t actually sell his stock in the theater company for another three years, his decision to acquiesce was one of the crucial steps in the collapse of classical Hollywood’s studio system.
While Hughes’s time at RKO was marked by dwindling production and a slew of expensive flops, the studio continued to turn out some well-received films under production chiefs Sid Rogell and Sam Bischoff , though both became fed up with Hughes’s meddling and quit after less than two years.
Bischoff was the last man to hold the job under Hughes. The company also began a close working relationship with Ida Lupino.
In early , Hughes fought off a lawsuit by screenwriter Paul Jarrico , who had been caught up in the latest round of HUAC hearings—Hughes had fired him and removed his name from the credits of The Las Vegas Story , then a recently released film noir starring one of his leading ladies at the studio, Jane Russell. The studio owner subsequently ordered RKO employees on “leave of absence” while he established a “security office” to oversee an ideological vetting system.
In September, Hughes and his corporate president, Ned E. Depinet, sold their RKO studio stock to a Chicago-based syndicate with no experience in the movie business; the syndicate’s chaotic reign lasted until February , when the stock and control were reacquired by Hughes. Wald and Krasna escaped their contracts and the studio as well. The deal that brought the team to RKO had called for them to produce sixty features over five years; in just shy of half that time, they succeeded in making four.
List purchased the controlling interest in the business and renamed it List Industries. Looking to forestall the impending legal imbroglio, in early Hughes offered to buy out all of RKO’s other stockholders. Convinced that the studio was sinking, and after a dispute with Hughes over the distribution of his nature documentary series True-Life Adventures , [] Walt Disney ended his arrangement with RKO and created his own distribution firm, Buena Vista Pictures Distribution, Inc.
Floyd Odlum reemerged to block his acquisition of the 95 percent ownership of RKO stock he needed to write off the company’s losses against his earnings elsewhere. Hughes had reneged on his promise to give Odlum first option on buying the RKO theater chain when he divested it, and was now paying the price.
Thomas O’Neil, son of General Tire’s founder William O’Neil and chairman of the broadcasting group, saw that the company’s new television stations, indeed all TV outlets, were in need of programming. With the purchase of RKO, the studio’s library was his, and rights to the films to which RKO retained clear title were quickly put up for sale.
By , RKO’s classic movies were playing widely on television, allowing many to see such films as Citizen Kane for the first time. The new owners of RKO made an initial effort to revive the studio, hiring veteran producer William Dozier to head production. On January 22, , RKO announced that it was closing its domestic distribution exchanges from February 1 with distribution to be taken over by Universal-International but it planned to retain foreign distribution and move production to its Pathe lot in Culver City.
The renovated Culver City studio is now owned and operated as an independent production facility. Cinerama purchased the exhibition circuit from Glen Alden in The final RKO film, Verboten! Jewell, “The supreme irony of RKO’s existence is that the studio earned a position of lasting importance in cinema history largely because of its extraordinarily unstable history.
Since it was the weakling of Hollywood’s ‘majors,’ RKO welcomed a diverse group of individualistic creators and provided them Films such as the erotic thriller Half Moon Street and the Vietnam War drama Hamburger Hill followed, but production ended as GenCorp underwent a massive reorganization following an attempted hostile takeover. Secretary of the Treasury William E. In , RKO Pictures, which had produced no films while under Wesray control, was spun off yet again.
Actress and Post Cereals heiress Dina Merrill and her husband, producer Ted Hartley , acquired a majority interest and merged the company with their Pavilion Communications. In , it handled the well-regarded independent production Laws of Gravity , directed by Nick Gomez.
Hartley and Merrill claimed that the owners of WSFA fraudulently induced them into signing an acquisition agreement by concealing their “cynical and rapacious” plans to purchase RKO, with the intention only of dismantling it. WSFA sought a preliminary injunction prohibiting RKO’s majority owners from selling their interests in the company to any third parties.
In , that planned sale fell through when InternetStudios. The auctioned rights were split between United Artists and Marian B. When Turner announced plans to colorize ten of the RKO films, GenCorp resisted, claiming copyright infringement, leading to both sides filing lawsuits. The Disney films originally distributed by RKO are owned and now fully controlled by The Walt Disney Company ‘s distribution division , [] as is the film adaptation of Swiss Family Robinson which Disney purchased prior to producing its own film adaptation.
Rights to many other independent productions distributed by the studio, as well as some notable coproductions, are in new hands. Most Samuel Goldwyn films are owned by his estate and are administered by Warner Bros. Most of the films released by RKO Pictures between and have an opening ident displaying the studio’s famous trademark, the spinning globe and radio tower, nicknamed the “Transmitter. Remember Sony Vegas? The popular video editing suite has been renamed for its new release, but does Sony Movie Studio Platinum Suite 12 measure up to the reputation of its precursor?
Sony Vegas has long been a favorite tool of video editors, and despite its new name, the core functionality of Platinum Suite 12 is not very different than its predecessor. The user interface has had only minor tweaks, so users of Vegas will find Platinum Suite 12 both familiar and comfortable.
All of the standard Sony Vegas functions are still here; structuring multi-track arrangements, title card creation, transitions, the ability to apply special effects and dynamically control the audio of any track. Also, there are plenty of improvements that make an upgrade worthwhile. Included with the program are other advanced tools to help with the various aspects of movie creation. Soundforge is excellent for editing the audio portion of movies, and Architect Studio 5.
NewBlue Titler creates 3D titles for videos and has many options to customize exactly how those titles appear on screen. Disadvantages Platinum Suite 12 is only compatible with newer versions of Windows and has no Mac support.
Using Platinum Suite 12 may seem strange at first, but quickly becomes second nature. This is the first time Magic Bullet Quicklooks has made an appearance as a bonus feature. There are over a presets which you can choose from to create practically any mood you can dream of. Magic Bullet can add a many types of Colour Grading directly to your video without having the need to learn complex Colour Control Fx Plugins. Which exact program version are you talking about? Which FX are you talking about? I have a question. Since you have used Movie Studio 12, do you know if there is a way to speed up sections of video, but not the whole video file? Hi Alice To speed up just a part of a video, use S for Split and split your video into 3 sections. Split the video at the beginning of section you want to speed up. Is the software compatible with. Mov formats. Yes you can import. You will need to also install Apple Quicktime, which is a prerequisite of the program, for decoding this format.
I would be very grateful for your help please. I have this version but can not find the aforementioned music files. They do not appear to be on the discs or connected to the paperwork suggesting a link. Do you have any ideas? Hi Gavin Manually open the 2nd installation disc and you should find the music files and tutorials.
Then drag them into a folder on your computer. There are sellers on eBay selling illegal versions which are not meant for sale and normally come with the purchase of a computer. Let me know what you find out. Regards Derek. Thank you Derek, right where you said thank you I had used the view files in the discs installer and they weren’t listed.
I didn’t think to try it manually although I did peruse disc 1 to see if I could see them. Thank you again,Gavin. Derek: Just want to visit this one last time. Please comment on the post at the following link. I want to get a graphics card soon to update my rig along with Platinum My files are huge up to 3 hrs edited , so I want to cut down on my rendering transcoding?
The timeline playback with the current GT card is ok for me. I prefer to use MC for BluRay because, although the files are larger and the processing is slower than Sony, the resulting videos are smoother with fewer artifacts. From what I am seeing, the R7 will not help me with rendering according to the comments and your article in this tutorial unless I misunderstood. I also want to start doing color correction in DaVincci with bit colour space, so I would like the card to be able to support this.
Looks like the HD would solve the problem, but those are still price. Please comment. The owners of this codec have not updated their code for a long time and I guess they never will.
