– Affinity designer shape builder free
Designer behaves like it doesn’t at all understand what you expect. It pushes the handles into the nodes and the extra loops vanish:. The result is still less than perfect because there’s in every corner 2 nodes in the same place. The extras cannot be removed without changing the shape.
Another way is to complete all curves to closed paths by drawing and joining a new part to everyone or by closing the open curves and editing with the node tool everyone so that everyone covers the originally wanted area:. This looks same as the one made by joining curves, but this doesn’t have double nodes in the corners.
It also doesn’t have Shape Builder, but recombining paths – open or closed – is much easier in Inkscape. See this older case how one can proceed: Does something like Illustrator’s “Shape builder” exist in Inkscape.
This doesn’t work in A. One gets compounds if he applies Boolean operations in A. Shapes can be cut and pasted Between A. D and Inkscape to both directions. Shapes appear in wrong size in Inkscape, but when returned to A. Of course all Inkscape’s effects must be converted to paths before pasting to A. A harmful thing is that shapes pasted from A. Inkscape’s Paint Bucket resembles a little shape builder. Actually it is a screenshot to vector tracer. Only what’s on the screen can be filled and the accuracy is only the screen resolution.
It has still been very useful. Note: the red outer stroke is just to demonstrate that this stroke has been expanded. Select all the resulting geometry, and choose the Boolean Union.
Using the Direct Selection tool, choose all the outer nodes, then delete them – this will leave your shape-builder-style filled form.

J Learner from the mars J Learner from the mars 1 2 2 bronze badges. Affinity designer doesn’t have that tool. But you can use boolean operations instead. All vector image editors including Illustrator have boolean operations, such as Union, Divide, Subtract, Intersect, etc. Add a comment. Sorted by: Reset to default.

Let’s assume you want the curved triangle between the open curves as a closed shape: One way is to insert to every curve a new node to every crossing. BUT: The original curve directions are still valid and you get easily unwanted loops to the corners.
I am not sure there is just one that could be considered 1 but pretty high on most user’s list is real vector brushes. Number one on my list is for Serif to fix all the major bugs and shortcomings, and Affinity applications are doing what I was buying it. Other added features are just a big bonus for me, which I can’t make any requests on, either with regard to the scope of the new features or their eta.
Yeah, certainly higher ranked than a shape builder tool. Also non-destructive vector and pixel warp, resizable UI elements among other things are more often requested, I guess.
It’s , guys! Where is Shape Builder tool? Even Amadine vector app has this feature Is there a shape tool? It’s really the only thing holding me back from using this over illustrator. A shape builder tool is way better than a boolean tool such as merge and delete clipping point without having to duplicate shapes for multiple Xor function. Affinity takes almost double the amount of time than illustrator. I agree with everyones request so far.
I understand if AD currently doesn’t have the resources to build this; but I think it would be a giant mistake to not put it on the top of the list of tools designers want. I think the lack of resources thing is just a cop out. Serif claim to have millions of people using their newest products, not to mention the money they made from the old ones. Now I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve purchased 3 products on PC and another 2 on the iPad, so in terms of revenue these guys have done very well for just a small team.
Honestly I’ve lost all hope in Affinity products ever reaching the claimed “professional” software status. Development seems to have just stopped and loyal customers have been left in the lurch for quite some time now, no updates or teasers on what’s to come, no highly requested features being released, nothing, not a peep.
I think they’ve made their retirement money, and now they’re simply milking as much coin from the current release until it fizzles out, which it very much is. I’m not even bothering to install Affinity on my new computer which is sad because the products had a lot of potential. You can post now and register later.
