Nikon capture nx2 cannot open nef free download

ViewNX2 is going thew same way sooner or later too. Better get the latest, supported, tools, especially since they’re both free. While CaptureNX-D isn’t quite the application NX2 used to be, as a basic raw editor, it does what it is supposed to do, and it comes free. However, if you have too old versions software, it shouldn’t open the NEF files at all. So it’s maybe something like the files being protected, or some weird setting.

Were you able to open the files in CaptureNX2 without warnings or error messages? Once opened, were all menus greyed out, or just some of them? In ViewNX2, do you see any icons enabled when you select a D image that you usually do not see with your own D?

Wouter Willemse , Sep 14, I would try: a Transferring the images from your media card by dragging and dropping using your computer’s operating system rather than Nikon Transfer which can sometimes corrupt images if the version of Transfer is older than the NEF version.
